Nigerian Army Strikes Terrorist Enclaves, Neutralizing 11
In a decisive blow to terrorist activities, Nigerian Army troops have conducted successful operations in Zamfara and Katsina states, resulting in the elimination of at least 11 terrorists. The coordinated raids targeted key terrorist hideouts, dealing a significant blow to their operations.
In Zamfara, troops stormed the den of notorious terrorist leader Hassan Yantagwaye in Tsafe Local Government Area. Yantagwaye and his group have been linked to numerous kidnappings and acts of terrorism in the region. In a fierce gun battle, troops overwhelmed the terrorists, neutralizing three of them and recovering a substantial cache of arms and ammunition. Additionally, the terrorists' camps were destroyed, further crippling their operations in the area.
Meanwhile, in Katsina State, gallant troops engaged terrorists in Shawu Kuka, Shinda, Tafki, Gidan Surajo, and Citakushi areas within Faskari Local Government Area. The intense firefight resulted in the death of eight terrorists. Furthermore, the troops seized three locally fabricated guns, military uniforms, and a significant quantity of stolen grains from the terrorists, disrupting their supply lines and resources.
In separate incidents, troops demonstrated their vigilance and effectiveness in other parts of the country. In Ebonyi State, armed Effium militias were encountered during night patrols, leading to the capture of one militia member and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle along with ammunition. Similarly, in Ogun State, troops intercepted a large quantity of suspected Cannabis Sativa, totaling 441 wraps, in Molegede village. Despite the smugglers' attempt to evade capture, the vigilant troops seized the illicit substances and the vehicle used for transportation.
These successful operations underscore the Nigerian Army's commitment to combating terrorism and securing the nation. Earlier in March, troops, in collaboration with hybrid forces, recorded significant victories against terrorists in Sambisa Forest, Borno State, further weakening their ranks and disrupting their operations.
