Deadly Shooting Rocks Abeokuta: Suspected Cult Clash Claims One Life
A tragic incident unfolded in the Ijeun Titun area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State, as violence erupted late Sunday evening. Reports indicate that one person, identified as Tescom, lost his life in a suspected cult clash.
According to eyewitnesses, the confrontation occurred around 8 pm, sending shockwaves through the community. Witnesses, speaking on anonymity, revealed that Tescom was mercilessly attacked while seated in front of a car wash. Gun-wielding assailants, arriving on motorcycles, targeted him specifically, firing fatal shots and fleeing the scene swiftly.
The untimely demise of Tescom has instilled fear among residents, with concerns over potential reprisal attacks looming large. The arrival of law enforcement officers from the Ibara Divisional headquarters to retrieve the victim's body further underscores the gravity of the situation.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident but dispelled rumors of a cult clash, labeling it a suspected murder case. The victim, identified as Olumide Danisa, also known as Tescom, fell victim to gunmen who opened fire while he was outside his residence. The perpetrators, believed to be two in number, fled in an unregistered Toyota Corolla following the attack.
Despite the tragic outcome, no arrests have been made as of yet. However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun PSC, has ordered a preliminary investigation into the matter, emphasizing the seriousness with which law enforcement authorities are approaching the case.

In a related development, the Ogun State Police Command disclosed the arrest of 11 suspects in connection with previous cult clashes that claimed four lives in February. Additionally, a significant breakthrough was achieved as 48 repentant cultists in the Sagamu area surrendered their weapons to authorities, renouncing their affiliation with various cult groups.
