Fire Engulfs Sokoto Central Market, Motorcycle Section Affected
A devastating fire has engulfed the Sokoto Central market, leaving the motorcycle section in ruins. Eyewitnesses reported that the fire broke out early this morning, though its exact cause remains unknown.
According to accounts from the scene, the fire is believed to have originated from a dump site close to the motorcycle section. Efforts to contain the blaze are underway, with both federal and state fire services mobilized to the scene.
Shehu Muhammad, Chairman of the Motorcycles Marketers Association, lamented the extent of the damage, stating that the number of motorcycles destroyed is yet to be determined due to the ongoing intensity of the fire. Many shop owners were unable to salvage their goods and vehicles as the fire rapidly spread.
While firefighters continue their battle against the inferno, Muhammad appealed to the Sokoto state government for assistance to those affected by the tragedy. The community now faces the daunting task of rebuilding and recovering from the devastating loss.
