House of Representatives Calls for Urgent Opening of Grain Reserves to Alleviate Hunger

The House of Representatives, in response to the prevailing hunger crisis across Nigeria, has urged the Federal Government to promptly unlock the nation's grain reserves and distribute grains to those in need.

The resolution, aimed at addressing the widespread hunger gripping the nation, stemmed from a motion of national urgent importance moved by Mr. Ibrahim Isiaka, the representative of Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in Ogun State.

Isiaka emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "The House resolves to urge the Federal Government and stakeholders to immediately open the food reserves to address the hunger in our country."

In addition to advocating for the immediate distribution of grains from the reserves, Isiaka called upon the federal government to intensify efforts to bolster food production and distribution channels.

During the debate, Isiaka highlighted the increasingly dire economic conditions faced by Nigerians, citing the soaring cost of living and the disproportionate rise in the price of essential commodities such as cement, despite the country's abundant raw materials for production.

As the nation grapples with the harsh realities of food insecurity and economic strain, the House of Representatives has taken a decisive step in urging swift action from the government to mitigate the suffering of vulnerable citizens.

Further details on the implementation of these measures are expected to emerge in due course as the government works towards alleviating the hunger crisis and improving access to essential food supplies for all Nigerians.
