Federal Capital Territory Police Arrest Notorious Kidnapper Samaila Wakili Fafa
Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have successfully apprehended Samaila Wakili Fafa, also known as Habu Ibrahim, a notorious kidnapper who had been on the run. Fafa, the second of two wanted kidnappers, was captured on February 24, 2024, around 7:05 pm, following a targeted operation in Sardauna Forest, Toto, Nasarawa State.
According to a statement released by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrest came after meticulous planning based on credible intelligence. Fafa had been a subject of intense pursuit, with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, offering a N20 million bounty for information leading to his capture.
Wike's decision to place the bounty was prompted by the escalating menace of banditry in the region. Earlier, on February 14, 2024, Wike had declared a similar bounty for two wanted bandits, including Fafa, during a meeting with the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh.
Prior to Fafa's arrest, the FCT Police Command had already made significant progress by apprehending Saidu Abdulkadir, also known as Dahiru Adamu, the first of the two wanted kidnappers. Adamu was captured following a raid on two kidnappers' camps bordering Nasarawa and Abuja.
Fafa's capture represents a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping in the FCT and its environs. He has confessed to his involvement in numerous abductions, including the high-profile cases of Barr. Chris Agidy, legal aid to Senator Ned Nwoko, and Mr. Sunday Yahaya Zakwai, the district head of Ketti Village, both of whom were tragically killed by the syndicate.
Following Fafa's arrest, police operatives were led to the location where the remains of Barr. Chris Agidy were discovered, which were subsequently recovered and deposited at Gwagwalada General Hospital.
While investigations into Fafa's criminal activities continue, CP Benneth Igweh reaffirmed the FCT Police Command's unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents. Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through designated emergency lines provided by the police.
