Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, widely known as Sabinus, is receiving widespread acclaim online following reports that he is personally sponsoring the construction of a road in the Obi Nkita/Ali Agwor area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
A video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) shows Sabinus on-site with heavy machinery, interacting with what appears to be a site engineer and several team members as they grade the road and fill potholes.
The viral footage has triggered a wave of reactions across social media, with Nigerians praising the comedian’s philanthropic move to fix what many see as a failure of government responsibility.
"The government will fight him oo. You dey spoil their campaign material," wrote user @AjeboDanny in a comment that quickly gained traction.
Another user, @iamurbanaira, criticized the authorities, saying: "Nigerians will not hold leaders accountable; instead, they [are] doing the work for them. Who is the local govt chairman?"
While many hailed Sabinus for giving back to his community, others pointed to the broader implications of such actions — celebrities stepping in to fill infrastructure gaps left by public officials.
“This is commendable but also a sad reflection of how broken the system is,” wrote another commenter on Instagram.
The Rivers State government has not yet responded or issued any official statement regarding the road project.
Sabinus, who rose to fame with his comedic skits and signature catchphrases, has become one of Nigeria's most prominent internet personalities.
