President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Thompson Oludare Sunday as the new Managing Director of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), according to reports by News360 Nigeria.
In the same nomination wave, the President also put forward Kabir Sabo Kataka for appointment as Executive Directorof the corporation.
The nominations were formally communicated to the Senate in a letter read on the floor during Wednesday’s plenary session by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
President Tinubu urged the Senate to consider and confirm both nominees in order to enhance the leadership and operational efficiency of the NDIC.
Following the reading of the letter, the Senate referred the nominations to the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions for further legislative review and to report back with recommendations.
The NDIC plays a vital role in ensuring financial system stability by protecting depositors and promoting public confidence in the banking sector.
