The Yoruba Nollywood community is mourning the loss of one of its beloved actors, Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji, widely known as Sisi Quadri, who has reportedly passed away. Oyebamiji, who celebrated his 44th birthday on December 25, 2023, was remembered fondly by colleagues in the industry.


The news of his demise was shared on social media by fellow actors, including Abiola Bayo and Tunde Yusuf, who expressed their condolences and prayers for the departed soul. Regina Chukwu also paid tribute to Oyebamiji, recalling her time working with him and offering support to his grieving family.


Sisi Quadri was celebrated for his memorable roles in Yoruba cinema, notably in the movie "Seniyan Seranko," released in 2004. He was also set to star in the upcoming film "Anikulapo: The Return of Spectre," which was scheduled for cinema release and coincidentally premiered on Netflix on the day of his passing.


Reflecting on his journey into acting in an interview with The PUNCH in 2023, Oyebamiji shared how he ventured into the industry after completing his education and training in cloth design. He credited his mentor Toyin Olaiya (Alaga council) for introducing him to acting and acknowledged the influence of his family in shaping his talent.


Known for his witty and comedic performances, Sisi Quadri explained that his knack for humorous insults in movie scenes was a combination of innate talent and upbringing. He emphasized the importance of toning down his on-screen persona while maintaining authenticity in his acting.
