Yoruba Fuji Icon KWAM1 Responds to Allegations of Staff Mistreatment
In a recent interview with GoldMyne TV, Yoruba Fuji maestro Wasiu Ayinde, also known as KWAM1 or K1 De Ultimate, addressed accusations made by some of his band members regarding mistreatment and staff slaving.
One of the band members, Ayankunle Ayanlowo, had publicly accused KWAM1 of confiscating passports during travels and neglecting health concerns. Ayankunle likened his experience with KWAM1 to that of a master and a slave.
In response, KWAM1 refuted the allegations, claiming that Ayankunle and two others had absconded from the band during a tour in England in the 90s, leading to the confiscation of their passports by British authorities for overstaying their visas. He asserted that Ayankunle's passport was still with the British High Commission due to his actions.
Additionally, KWAM1 addressed accusations from another band member, Ismaila Olubade, regarding passport withholding and being left in America while KWAM1 went to London to visit his ex-wife. KWAM1 dismissed these claims, stating that the band members had their passports and were able to return to Nigeria with them.
KWAM1 denied allegations of staff mistreatment, emphasizing that he has always listened to his band members' concerns and provided support when needed. He cited an instance where he assisted a band member facing a housing issue in Oyo State as an example of his commitment to his team's welfare.
Despite the controversies, KWAM1 remains adamant that he has treated his band members fairly and will continue to do so.
