Police Officer Caught on Video Sexually Harassing Young Graduate Inside Patrol Van
A disturbing incident has come to light involving a yet-to-be-identified policeman attached to Abobi Police Station in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. The officer was captured on video allegedly sexually harassing a 20-year-old female graduate, Precious Owolabi, inside a police van.
The distressing encounter reportedly occurred on Monday, February 5, 2024, around 7 pm, when a group of policemen stopped a motorcycle carrying Owolabi and forced her into their patrol van after objecting to her attire, specifically a pair of camouflage knickers.
In an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Wednesday, Owolabi, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Cooperative and Rural Development from Olabisi Onabanjo University, recounted her harrowing experience. She disclosed that the policeman subjected her to harassment after she revealed that she was a virgin.
"I kept crying and begging him to just let me go. At some point, he gave me back my phone on the condition that I would either pull his trousers or I would follow him home that night, failure of which he would take me to the police station," Owolabi said.
Despite her plea, the officer allegedly persisted in his advances, both verbally and physically, leaving her in a state of distress.
The matter has since been reported to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abobi Police Station, who assured that appropriate action would be taken. The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed that the command has invited the implicated officer and his colleagues for investigation.
This distressing incident underscores the urgent need for accountability and reform within law enforcement agencies to prevent such abuses of power in the future. The victim and concerned citizens are calling for swift and thorough action to ensure justice is served.
